Identification
Adults can reach 13 cm in length for a weight of 24.7 grams. Plumage mostly yellow with light-blue tinged white collar and throat. Black edging on wings, slight green tinge on wings. Bright yellow with slight green tinge on collar.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in montane areas from Costa Rica and Panama to Colombia and north East Peru. Lives in wet mossy forests, humid forest edges and clearings, from 600 to 2300 m.

Status : The species is still locally common but is increasingly threatened by deforestation and mining activities. Its range is now highly fragmented.
