Identification
The species can reach 12 cm for a weight of 20.5 grams. Plumage mostly green with strong yellow tinge on head. Breast is grey-white with black speckling. Lighter black markings on head. Subspecies has black-spotted undertail.
Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs from Costa Rica to Panama and west Colombia. Species found in central and east Colombia, Venezuela, Trinidad and north Brazil. Lives in humid foothills and montane forests, clearings and gardens, up to 2000 m.

Status : The species is still common within its range and can live in altered habitats. Habitat fragmentation and deforestation are causes for long term concern.
