Identification
The species can reach 37 cm in length for a weight of 193 grams. Bare green face, green wings, yellow collar and yellow ear tuft, red tail tip and undertail. Bill with vertical black markings. Black plumage for male, brown for female.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South America, from the Atlantic forest of south-east Brazil to nearby east Paraguay and north-east Argentina. Lives in moist primary forests and nearby palm groves and gallery forest, to 1000 m.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is only locally common but threatened in parts of its range by habitat loss. Studies needed for conservation measures implementation.
