Identification
One of the largest species of its genus, reaching 46 cm in length for a weight of 302 g. Very short wings. Green back, tail and wings, black head, blue eyering. Breast bright yellow with two black bands, black is mixed with dark red.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in South America, from north-east Colombia and Central Venezuela to north-west Brazil and central Peru. Lives in wet primary lowland forests and gallery forests, to 750 meters.

Status : The species is not yet threatened and locally common but vulnerable to habitat loss. Lack of knowledge on this species is problematic.
