Identification
The species grows to 39 cm in length and weight of 168 g. Unmistakable, the only toucan with full yellow head, breast and belly and olive-yellow wings, back and tail. Red eyering, red and olive-yellow bill. Red rump patch.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in south America, from South-east Brazil to Paraguay and north-east Argentina. Lives in subtropical moist forests, often around streams, up to 1550 meters.

Status : The species isn’t common anywhere but as it is inconspicuous, its numbers might be underestimated. Threatened by illegal trapping and deforestation.
