Identification
The species can grow up to 1 m in length, males being much smaller than females. Very large and thick triangular head. Female is black with turquoise and yellow spots forming transversal bands. Males are green with red cheek band.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South-east Asia, from south Thailand to Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore, Sumatra and nearby smaller islands. Lives in forests, gallery forests, mangrove forests and woodlands.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species is locally common and isn’t threatened currently despite overcollection for international trade occurring in parts of its range.
