Identification
Fairly large mountain chameleon growing to 30 cm in total length. Conspicuous dorsal crest, small flattened casque. All three horns are long and relatively straight. Subspecies usually light yellow-green with bright yellow crests.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in Kenya, on slopes of Mount Kenya and has been introduced to Hawaii. Species also found in south Kenya and Tanzania. Mostly found in highland forests, often near edges but sometimes high in trees.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species remains locally common and can withstand changes in its habitat. Overcollection for trade is problematic for Tanzanian subspecies.
