Identification
Adults can reach a length of 100 cm. Very pronounced ridge from eyes to snout, flattened snout. Coloration grey to brown with dark and light blotches on back, often darker-edged. Large post-ocular stripe, clear markings on lower lips.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in South-east Asia and is endemic to Indonesia, being found on Java and Sumatra islands. Lives in montane rainforests, rice paddies and open meadows, from 400 to 1600 m.

Status : The species is thought to remain safe in most of its range. It isn’t threatened by habitat loss and lives in many protected areas.
