Identification
Adults can grow to 1 m in length. Large triangular head with pronounced ridge from flattened snout to eyes. Tail is red. Rest of body is very variable, from grey to entirely white or even golden yellow with brown back blotches.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South-east Asia and is endemic to the Philippines, occurring only on Batan and Sabtang Islands. Lives in tropical dry and humid scrubland, forests and bushy areas.

IUCN RED LIST : ENDANGERED
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species has a very tiny range and could be threatened by both habitat loss and overcollection for the pet trade. More studies needed.
