Identification
Large toad species reaching up to 20 cm in length. Very warty skin, short but broad snout, bony ridges well visible around eyes and forehead. Coloration grey to beige-brown with reddish forehead and black bony ridges. Clear belly.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in south-east Asia from India to south China, south to Western Indonesia. Introduced in eastern Indonesia and New Guinea. The other subspecies is endemic to Pakistan. Lives in isturbed lowland habitats, sometimes in cities, up to 1800 m.

Status : The species remains common in its huge range and is very adaptable. It is occasionally caught for international trade but this isn’t a threat.
