Identification
Globular and stout body reaching 5 cm in length. Small head with pointy snout. Smooth skin, very short legs, round toes. Back and top of head entirely olive-brown. Lower flanks and belly blackish-blue with dirty white dots.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in South America and found in central and southern Chaco, in Bolivia, Paraguay, south Brazil and north Argentina. Lives in forests, grasslands in waterlogged soils, near temporary pools.

Status : The species is considered safe so far although it doesn’t adapt well to humane disturbance. Could be threatened by habitat loss in near future.
