Identification
Adults can reach a length of 6 cm. Females larger than male, skin is very smooth. Coloration variable. Yellow and black back and flanks. Yellow forehead, black sides of head. Dark blue limbs and belly with black markings.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in South America, from south-eastern Guyana, French Guyana and Suriname to north-east Brazil. Lives in rainforests and forests at edges of hills, gallery forests, up to 600 m.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species remains at least locally common within its range. Heavily trapped for international trade. Some localities are close to extinction.
