Identification
46 cm in length for a weight of 325 g. Head and neck black with dark blue naked skin around eyes and brown spot on cheeks. Green wings, red rump, yellow and read breast. Subspecies has rusty thighs. Large black and cream bill.
Range and habitat
Species found in South America, from central Venezuela to Guianas, north and central Brazil and eastern Brazil. This subspecies occurs in north of range. Lives in lowland forests, fruit tree plantations and woodlands, up to 1000 meters.

Status : The species is locally common but hunted in some places. Subspecies from Atlantic forest of Brazil is endangered. Vulnerable to deforestation.
