Identification
Up to 105 cm body length, weight up to 16 kg. Stocky cat with large head and limbs. Conspicuous dark brown and white face markings. This subspecies is uniformly rufous to reddish-brown with white breast and belly.
Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in south-east Asia, from Thailand and Malaysia to Sumatra. Species also found from eastern India to south China.

IUCN RED LIST : NEAR THREATENED
CITES : Appendix I
Status : The species is legally protected in all its range but still poached. The biggest threat it faces in South-east Asia is loss of habitat by deforestation.
