Identification
Colonies can be up to 1 meters across. They look like partially encrusting laminae with contorted edges with small ridges well visible. Corallites are round and slightly spiny. Coloration variable, usually brown, red or/and green.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from Red Sea and East Africa to Ryukyu islands and north Australia, east to French Polynesia. Lives around lower reef slopes, lagoons and fringing reefs, from 3 to 40 meters.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species is very common and widespread. Like most corals, it is potentially affected by habitat destruction and climate change.
