Identification
Adults can grow to about 110 cm in length. Slender body with a slight dorsal keel giving triangular section. Small round head with large eyes, well distinct from body. Large dull red and black bands separated by small white bands.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in southern Central America and northern South America, from Honduras to north-west Venezuela and Columbia, and Ecuador. Lives in the canopy of undisturbed lowland moist and wet forests, up to 550 m.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species has a large range but seems to be quite rare. In a near future, it could become threatened locally, then globally, by deforestation.
