Identification
Adults can grow to 35.5 cm in length for a weight of 400 g. Unmistakable and very odd looking. Bare head covered with blue skin and large bluish and black bill. Plumage brown with darker wings. Elongated silhouette.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South America from extreme east Colombia and south Venezuela to Guianas and north Brazil (north of Amazon river). Lives in humid forests in lowland and mountains, up to 1400 meters.

Status : The species is locally common but precise population assessment is hard to make. Possibly threatened locally by deforestation.
