Identification
Adults reach a body length of 32 cm for a weight of 300 g. Male has golden mantle and head, iridescent green cheeks. Female brown with white belly. This subspecies has less yellow on mantle and more orange-yellow flank plumes.

Range and habitat
The species is endemic to the northern half of New Guinea and Yapen island. This subspecies occurs in the eastern part of the range, only in Papua New Guinea. Lives in lowland and hill forests, including second growth, to 1550 meters.

CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species remains common to locally abundant despite years of hunting of males by local tribes. Poaching and wildlife trade are possible threats.
