Identification
Small species growing up to 5.5 cm in length. Skin is warty and snout is rounded. Body more compact than other Bombina. Back and flanks are brownish with faint clear spots. Underside is black and bright yellow-orange.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in Europe, from most of France to Germany, east to Romania and Greece. Lives in montane and hilly areas, mostly in forests and grasslands.

Status : The species has a large range and remains locally common in suitable habitat. It is locally threatened by habitat loss and protected by law.
