Identification
Adults can grow to 29 cm in length for a weight of 140 g. Small horn-colored bill, black feet. Face and crown are ashy grey, breast is grey with faint dark edging. Belly yellowish. Rest of plumage green, brighter on nape, blue flight feathers.
Range and habitat
The species occurs in South America, from eastern Bolivia and south-west Brazil to Uruguay, Paraguay, south to Central Argentina. Lives in dry open woodlands and scrublands, city parks, up to 1000 m.

Status : The species is common to abundant in most of its range. It is locally hunted as considered to be a crop pest. Introduced in many parts of the world.
