Identification
The species can reach up to 18 cm in length. High back profile. Coloration ranges from beige to almost whitish-yellow with faint dark mottling on back and upper flanks. Two transversal and one longitudinal broad black bands on flanks.

Range and habitat
The species is found in South East Asia and occurs from Thailand (including possibly Mekong river System) to peninsular Malaysia and western Indonesia. Lives in clear water forested hill streams and waterfalls.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a very wide range and most of its populations remain safe despite collection and fishing. Habitat loss is, so far, the biggest threat.
