Identification
Adults can reach a body length of 9 cm. Pointed upper lip. Male is bright pink. Bright orange and yellow upper back with vertical orange bar on flanks. Dorsal fin bright yellow, tail orange with pink margins. Female is lighter colored.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Pacific Ocean, around Caroline islands, Marshall islands, Kiribati and Tonga. Lives in coral reefs in lagoons and outer reefs, from 4 to 30 meters deep.

Status : The species is poorly known. It is local but its habitat seems relatively well preserved so far. Occasionally collected for trade.
