Identification
Large oriole species reaching 27 cm in length for a weight of 67 g. Black head and upper breast, wings, back and tail. Large white bar on wings, rest of plumage is golden-orange. Long silvery bill, silvery-grey bare skin area behind eyes.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South America, in north-east Colombia, north and Central Venezuela and on islands off Venezuelan coast (Aruba, Curacao, Margarita).

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : Despite being regularly captured for cagebird trade, the species remains locally common to even abundant. Successfully introduced in the Antilles.
